asoundconf-gtk software package provides Applet to select the default ALSA sound card, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install asoundconf-gtk
asoundconf-gtk is installed in your system.
Make ensure the asoundconf-gtk package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep asoundconf-gtk *
You will get with asoundconf-gtk package name, version, architecture and description in a table
